Beauty with a Purpose

The best moments in life are
the ones when we feel most connected to self,
in harmony with nature and
the world around us.

Everything in the universe operates through dynamic exchange, and because of the flow of energy, all relationships are based on give and take. It’s a beautiful law – if you want love, give love; if you want appreciation, be appreciative; if you want to be blessed with good things in life, learn to silently bless everyone.

Africology was born in this spirit of giving love, with love. It’s our intention to create our products with awareness on all levels; from farming, manufacturing to serving your skin, and giving back again. This energy has always resonated with those who share our journey, and we thank you for that – you are part of our blessing.

“The Earth is what we all have in common.”
– Wendell Berry

Africology supports several initiatives and projects that work towards giving back to society and ensuring the future of our precious planet.

As a brand that’s about much more than just cosmetics, we wholeheartedly believe in the power of giving back, and are passionate about making a marked difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Our ongoing commitment to creating jobs extends to real empowerment – and helping to instil a sense of purpose and confidence as part of the training we provide for aspiring therapists. So far, we’ve given wings to the hopes and dreams of more than 100 young women as they embarked on their path to self-actualisation.

Joining these inspiring ladies on their journey has been equally enriching for us – we’ve witnessed them waking up to their power, and have seen them realise their role as changemakers in a world so desperately in need of peace. Women who tap into their inner strength are such powerful forces in their communities – they harness their own as well as the collective consciousness for the greater good, while navigating positive change for all.

Beyond job creation, we’re also passionate about fair trade practices, and the support of local communities is a cause that’s always been close to our hearts. Holding within them the very essence of care, our products nourish & nurture your skin – while being part of our continuous intention to support the greater good.

We are unwavering in the pursuit of our green agenda and honour every opportunity to celebrate Earth’s essence – and the abundance it manifests. We all have a collective responsibility to care for the planet, and one of the ways Africology chooses to do this is to invite you to be part of the positive change and join our Green Tribe.

Contributing portions of our online sales towards One Tree Planted, we also give complimentary Moringa Tree seeds to the first 2 000 online orders on Green Friday each November.

One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people and wildlife. Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs for social impact, and restore biodiversity. Many of their projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. To learn more, visit www.onetreeplanted.org

We are very aware of the need for access to quality healthcare and believe that good nutrition is a pivotal building block for wellness and wellbeing. That’s why we’ve partnered with Hlokomela – an award-winning HIV and AIDS educational and treatment programme in South Africa’s Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces aimed at farm workers, migrant workers, and those in the tourism sector – to launch a Community Wellness Mission. The Hlokomela vegetable and herb garden provides access to wholesome, natural food to the greater community, and ensures the addition of immune-boosting foods to their diets.

Hlokomela aims to reduce HIV vulnerability through awareness, prevention and treatment, and also extends to other diseases like TB and malaria. The programme has grown exponentially over the years and also includes a women’s clinic, creches and mobile clinics. To learn more, visit www.hlokolmela.org.za

As we are deeply committed to supporting rural communities and projects that champion issues such as early childhood development, literacy, environmental education and entrepreneurial training, Nourish – a not-for-profit organisation in poverty-stricken areas in Mpumulanga – is especially close to our hearts. To alleviate the added burden on these families when the global pandemic hit, we jumped at the chance to support them by donating blankets as well as food parcels.

Nourish aims to create sustainable change in both conservation and community upliftment, and they believe the poverty cycle (and poaching scourge) can be broken through growing resilient communities that are healthy, educated, and have access to opportunities. Their holistic range of projects are interlinked, and helps communities to grow in all aspects.

Our goal is to restore, create and maintain a sense of belonging, security, pride and ownership among residents and to attract business and employment opportunities through bespoke interventions. One of our interventions to provide a space for community engagement and dialogue, is the establishment of a Community Food Garden that promotes food security and sustainable practices.
